Learner Licence
You must be at least 16 years old to apply for a driving licence. This requires you to pass a learner licence test, which is only a theory test from the New Zealand road code book regarding driving rules and regulations.
We will introduce you to the key driving rules and road regulations that you need to learn to be a safe and competent driver.

Restricted Licence
You must have held your Learner Licence for at least six months before you apply for your Restricted Licence.
We will cover the following:
Vehicle controls:
Adjusting mirror
Seat adjustment
Foot pressure: slowing down and acceleration
We will begin with a quiet area until you have confidence with busier roads.
Road rules:
Giving way
We describe the situations in which you must give way to other vehicles when driving. It shows you what to do in a variety of situations and at different kinds of intersections.
Stopping and parking:
How to park safely, where not to park, parking signs
When conditions change:
We will tell you how to drive safely when conditions become more hazardous than usual.
Hazards and emergencies:
Driving has the potential to be dangerous, particularly when other hazards are involved. we will give you some valuable tips on how to be aware of hazards and how to avoid getting into crash situations.
Full Licence
Before you apply for your full licence, you must have held your restricted licence for at least 18 months and be 18 years of age or older. This period may be reduced to 12 months and 17 and half years respectively if you sit an advanced driving course. If you are 25 years old or over, you must have held your restricted licence for at least 6 months reduced to 3 months if you sit an approved advanced driving course.
We will prepare you for the full licence test. You will be learning:
Using your rear vision mirrors
Driving in all weather conditions
Road awareness - searching well ahead, recognising potential hazards earlier, giving you more time to react
Manoeuvering the car – parallel parking, angle parking, reversing, 3 point turns or u-turns
Navigating roundabouts - how to indicate and successfully negotiate them with ease
Following distances
Driving on the motorway – lane changes and what you need to pay attention to while driving at higher speeds alongside other road users
The importance of being courteous to other road users or how certain attitudes effect your driving.
